TAROT EKPHRASIS

What can tarot and the occult reveal about the practice of ekphrasis?

This is the question at the heart of my PhD project. I'm currently working on a collection of 78+ ekphrastic poems informed by Pamela Colman Smith's artwork for the Waite-Smith tarot deck. This will be accompanied by a critical essay on the topic.

My research is mainly into critical theories of ekphrasis BUT the background for the poetry collection encompasses a slew of tarot topics: the Golden Dawn, W.B. Yeats, Michael Dummett's work on the game of tarot, etc. If you'd like to talk tarot and/or poetry, feel free to get in touch!
